I am writing in protest of the heinous disinformation that Senator JD Vance and Candidate Trump are spreading about Springfield and Dayton, Ohio. it is actively dangerous. The wild and ugly lies that Vance and Trump are spreading about immigrants and refugees in our communities is not only baseless, ignorant, and racist -- I teach in Springfield, and the community has been forced to close city buildings, elementary schools, and to lockdown hospitals within the last week -- all because of grotesque lies popularized by Senator Vance and President Trump. Nursing students in Springfield have had their clinical hours cancelled due to hospital lockdowns that were a direct result of the Trump/Vance campaign s preading and perpetuating lies about Haitian immigrants in Springfield. Now, Senator Vance has stated -- again, falsely -- that similar actions are being taken by immigrants and refugees in Dayton, OH. To hear this kind of destructive, demonstrably false, racist, and anti-American rhetoric coming from a current Senator of this state is disgusting. up, honesty, and elected officials who support them regardless of their background or nationality. I urge ALL of our Ohio elected officials at the national level to publicly denounce this rhetoric. The good people of Springfield and Dayton deserve back ld and Dayton. n turn, this has caused real risk, danger, and disruption in the lives of law abiding, tax paying citizens of all races and national origins in Springfie Racist rhetoric of this type is never okay. In this instance, this rhetoric has gone national -- President Trump and Senator Vance are perpetuating it. I danger in the last week as a result of these lies. Students, citizens, teachers, nurses, law enforcement, and countless others in Springfield have been subjected to real harm, interruption, and potential the local communities most effected and harmed by this rhetoric. Please stand up and do what is right for Ohio and America. Denounce these lies. Force Donald Trump -- and his running mate -- to tell the truth. Support State the truth. Stand for justice. Support all American communities. You have been elected and entrusted with representing and protecting your state and community. Please stand up and state -- loudly -- that overblown raci st and divisive rhetoric is not acceptable. Lies are not acceptable. Harming your community is not acceptable.
