Today I take pen in hand to write and express my strong support for Senator Ron Wyden's call for a criminal investigation into JPMorgan Chase's (JPMC) role in enabling Jeffrey Epstein's sex trafficking operation.
The recently released analysis by Senator Wyden, based on unsealed court documents and his investigation of Epstein's bank records, reveals deeply disturbing information that demands immediate action, and a renewed look at banking regulations.
The findings are shocking and indicate a systemic failure of compliance and ethics at one of our nation's largest financial institutions. For nearly two decades, JPMC severely underreported Epstein's suspicious financial activity.
This wasn’t a case of a one-time mistake, but rather a deliberate effort to maintain a lucrative client relationship. Epstein was part of JPMC's "Wall of Cash" group, indicating his status as one of their largest clients.
Perhaps most disturbing reports are about the apparent complicity of top JPMC executives. Mary Erdoes, a high-ranking executive, was in constant contact with Epstein. John Duffy, former JPMC Private Banking CEO, even advised Epstein on how to AVOID reporting requirements for cash withdrawals. This level of involvement from senior leadership suggests a culture of willful ignorance, if not outright corruption.
The financial trail is clear and damning. Epstein paid Ghislaine Maxwell, his convicted accomplice, at least $25 million, including a $19 million payment from JPMC accounts. This transaction alone should have raised numerous red flags, yet it was allowed to proceed.
I urge you to support Senator Wyden's call for a criminal investigation into JPMC and to back his efforts to seek Senate approval for a bill that would force the Treasury Department to release its Epstein file. The American people deserve to know the full extent of JPMC's involvement in this heinous operation and the trail of money and where it leads, and to whom.
The victims of Epstein's crimes deserve justice, and those who enabled him must face the consequences of their actions.
Time is of the essence. Every day that passes without action allows those responsible to potentially destroy evidence or evade justice.
Call for a full investigation and subpoena the necessary bank executives.
Thank you.
