The separation of powers enshrined in the Constitution is a cornerstone of American democracy, serving as a system of checks and balances to prevent any single branch from accumulating excessive power. The administration's attempt to circumvent judicial review and claim unrestrained executive authority poses a grave threat to this fundamental principle. We cannot allow such a disregard for the role of the judiciary and the rule of law to stand. The courts must retain their authority to serve as an independent check on the actions of the executive branch. Unchecked executive overreach jeopardizes our democratic system of governance. I urge you to speak out forcefully against any efforts to undermine judicial oversight and the separation of powers. Congress must act to reassert its constitutional powers and defend the role of the judiciary as a co-equal branch. Failing to do so risks enabling an authoritarian shift towards unilateral executive control. We must protect the checks and balances that have safeguarded our republic for over two centuries.
