Stop Innocent Man's Execution, Review Exculpatory DNA Evidence
To: Gov. Abbott
From: A verified voter in Dallas, TX
September 24
Marcellus Williams is scheduled to be executed on September 24th for a crime that DNA evidence proves he did not commit. The St. Louis County prosecuting attorney reviewed the DNA results and filed a motion to vacate Mr. Williams' conviction, believing the evidence clearly shows his innocence. Despite this, the Missouri Supreme Court has set an execution date before any court has considered the new exculpatory DNA evidence. We cannot allow the execution of an innocent person to proceed. The conviction and death sentence for Mr. Williams should be vacated immediately based on the DNA evidence proving his innocence. Executing him in the face of such compelling proof of his innocence would be a grave injustice. I urge you to act swiftly to stop this execution and ensure a full judicial review of the DNA evidence exonerating Marcellus Williams.
