I am writing as your constituent to urge you to take immediate, decisive action on several urgent issues that demand congressional oversight and accountability. These matters directly affect public trust, government transparency, and the safety of people living in this country.
First, I am asking you to enforce the Epstein Files Transparency Act, which Congress passed with overwhelming bipartisan support. Despite clear legal requirements, the Department of Justice continues to delay the release of the majority of these documents. This is not just a bureaucratic failure — it is a failure of justice for the women and girls who were exploited and ignored for years. Congress must use its full authority, including subpoenas, hearings, and appropriations language, to ensure that the truth is released and that every individual involved is held accountable.
Second, I want to address the recent murder of a woman by ICE personnel. This was an unacceptable act of violence by a federal agency entrusted with public authority. When ICE kills a civilian, the public deserves full transparency, independent investigation, and meaningful consequences. I am asking you to demand the release of all reports and footage, require a thorough inquiry, and use appropriations and oversight tools to prevent ICE from operating without accountability when lethal force is misused.
Finally, I urge you to use every lawful mechanism available to check harmful executive actions that threaten democratic norms and institutional stability. Congress has the power to block or reverse damaging policies, restrict funding for abusive programs, and conduct rigorous oversight of federal agencies and officials.
With the upcoming government funding votes at the end of January, you have a real opportunity to address all three of these issues. I am asking you to lead with courage and prioritize transparency, accountability, and the protection of democratic principles.
