Emil Bove’s nomination to the federal appeals court must be rejected. His record shows a disturbing pattern of unethical behavior and contempt for the rule of law.
As acting deputy attorney general, Bove weaponized the DOJ for political purposes—firing January 6 prosecutors, threatening to purge the FBI, and reportedly instructing officials to ignore court orders to enforce Trump’s immigration agenda. This blatant defiance of judicial authority alone disqualifies him.
More than 900 former DOJ attorneys have publicly opposed his nomination, citing his disregard for legal norms and constitutional limits. Confirming Bove would reward abuse of power and undermine the credibility of our courts.
The Senate has a duty to protect judicial integrity. Bove’s nomination should be rejected when it comes to a vote on July 28.
