The bipartisan, bicameral Indian Programs Advance Appropriations Act would provide advance appropriations for Indian Health Facilities, Payments for Tribal Leases, Operation of Indian Education, Operation of Indian Programs, and more.
By ensuring funding a year in advance for these critical services, this bill would insulate Indian Country from government shutdowns and other funding lapses that disrupt job security for federal workers and everyday services from healthcare to nutrition and beyond.
The federal government already authorizes advance appropriations for other programs, like Veterans Affairs (VA), to protect critical federal commitments from funding lapses. This legislation would ensure obligations to Indian County are treated the same way, while also ensuring U.S. government compliance with trust and treaty responsibilities guaranteed to Tribes.
Pass the Indian Programs Advance Appropriations Act!
