I demand immediate, public, and comprehensive oversight of the demolition of the White House East Wing and the construction of a 90,000 square foot “golden ballroom” costing $250 to 300 million dollars and financed largely by private corporate donors. I understand there will also be a bunker for the “president” to hide and cower in.
This project raises urgent legal, ethical, and national heritage concerns:
Demolition proceeded amid serious disputes about required reviews and approvals for federal property. Congress — YOU — must determine which processes were bypassed and on what legal theory.
The White House and multiple companies claim corporate donations, including from Lockheed Martin, Microsoft, Coinbase, and others, are covering the bulk of costs. Where is the money held? Is there an official federal account with statutory controls, or were funds routed through private intermediaries to contractors? Several donors have significant federal contracts or regulatory interests. Were there promises, expectations, or implicit understandings tied to these contributions? What meetings, communications, or procurement decisions intersected with donor support?
Press statements and pledges are not accountability. Congress — YOU — must obtain receipts, ledgers, contracts, wire confirmations, and vendor lists, and make them public to the maximum extent allowed by law. Support a formal investigation through the House Oversight and relevant Senate committees as appropriate.
I know you lack the courage.
