The tragedies of war have become a daily spectacle, reflected in the eyes of the tired and helpless. Innocents pay an unbearable price for conflicts and disagreements layered with politics, religion, and power-hungry ambition. I write this, not as a politician, not as a scholar, but a simple man, heartbroken by the scenes of suffering, begging for a ceasefire, an immediate halt to the inhuman acts perpetrated in the name of nationalism. From sea to shining sea, we, the United States, pride ourselves on freedom, democracy, and human rights, yet we continue to finance Israel's offensive against Palestinian civilians. This irony is not lost to history but is the lament of our present. Our tax dollars are fueling the fires of violence, and our silence renders us complicit. We cannot boast about our human rights achievements and concurrently supply weapons that obliterate entire families, incite fear, and provoke retaliation. The commitment must be to life, not to geopolitical allegiances. The cessation of funding for these heinous acts is the least we can do to right the wrongs, but more needs to be done. We need to raise our voices, condemning any act of brutality, be they from Israel, Palestine, or any other nation. We must join hands, not in the name of politics or religion, but for humanity. Let's hold steadfast to our core values and shun violence. There is no glory in war, only despair, and the ghosts of what could have been. So, let us shed our complicity and advocate for peace, for it's not just the right thing to do, but the only thing left.
