I'm writing to demand urgent action in light of the ongoing, deeply disturbing actions of Donald Trump and his allies. The normalization of authoritarian behavior, violent rhetoric, and blatant attacks on democracy must end—and our elected officials must take a clear stand.
I am asking you to do three things:
1. Stand up and say that you are against what Donald Trump and his administration are doing. Silence is complicity. The public deserves to know where you stand.
2. Publicly state whether you are okay with Donald Trump’s actions. If you support what he’s doing, have the courage to say it outright. If you oppose it, say so clearly and unequivocally.
3. If you are not willing to do either, step down and get the hell out of the way. Our democracy is too fragile and too important for passive leadership. We need representatives who will fight, not hide.
This is not business as usual. This is a crisis of democracy. And I—and millions of others—are watching closely. Your constituents will remember who stood up when it mattered.
Do the right thing.
