I am writing to express my deep disappointment regarding the recent decision to support the Republican-led funding bill.
This bill not only slashes $13 billion from critical non-defense programs but also grants excessive discretion over federal spending to Donald Trump and Elon Musk—an act that undermines democratic oversight and the fundamental role of Congress as a check on executive power.
The decision to move forward with this CR is a betrayal. Once again, Democrats have ceded any power and broken their promise to represent the American people, choosing instead to side with those who seek to erode our institutions for their own gain.
At a time when democracy is under attack, we need leaders with the courage to defend the rights and livelihoods of their constituents—not politicians who enable the very forces working against them.
I am a public servant myself. I am a federal employee currently being traumatized and bullied every day by this administration who would rather see us shut down than see this nightmare CR move forward.
You know as well as we do that this bill is disastrous. It is up to Democrats to stand their ground on this attack on our democracy. No one will care about the shutdown in 2 years, but everyone will remember how our democracy fell because in the moment we needed our elected leaders most, they opened the gate for a tyrant.
We can no longer tolerate leadership that prioritizes political survival over the well-being of the people.
Please, vote no.
