Vote no on any budget or appropriations measure that increases funding for ICE. The agency has a documented record of brutality — detainee abuse, deaths in custody, and civil rights violations that have been reported and ignored for years. Not one additional dollar should go to an agency that has yet to be held accountable for any of it.
ICE's budget has ballooned over the past decade with little oversight and no meaningful reform. More money has meant more harm, not more safety. Before Congress writes another blank check, there needs to be real accountability, independent oversight, and enforceable standards. Until that happens, I expect you to oppose any increase in ICE's funding and to say so publicly.
