Oppose immigration bill harming vulnerable populations and services

To: Sen. McCormick, Rep. Smucker, Sen. Fetterman

From: A constituent in Lancaster, PA

February 26

This bill would make jurisdictions that limit cooperation with federal immigration authorities ineligible for certain federal funds intended to benefit undocumented immigrants. While reducing unauthorized immigration is a reasonable policy goal, denying funds could disrupt crucial services for vulnerable populations, including legal refugees who rely on those resources. Many professionals who serve immigrant communities could lose their livelihoods, disrupting a vital support system. A more balanced approach that protects public safety while preserving humanitarian assistance is needed. I urge you to oppose this bill and instead work towards comprehensive immigration reform that upholds American values of compassion and opportunity for all.
