An Open Letter

I am writing as a Minnesota constituent who is furious over the ICE shooting and the immediate, dishonest reframing by the Trump administration and its allies.
Before evidence was gathered or facts established, federal officials pushed a self-serving narrative to justify lethal force. That narrative was instantly amplified by political surrogates and media outlets, drowning out scrutiny and poisoning the public record. This is not transparency or governance—it is propaganda used to excuse violence.
What is equally enraging is watching Congress retreat from accountability because impeachment is “unlikely to succeed.” Impeachment is not a political gamble; it is a constitutional duty. When an administration lies, obstructs investigations, and shields federal violence with disinformation, the correct response is continued oversight and continued impeachment—even if it is voted down every time.
The record matters. The pressure matters. Abandoning accountability because it is difficult only normalizes abuse of power.
Federal agents killed a person on Minnesota soil. Instead of cooperation and transparency, we saw spin, stonewalling, and narrative control. Congress exists to confront exactly this behavior. If it will not act here, then it has failed its purpose.
I expect you to support independent investigations, resist federal interference, and continue impeachment and oversight efforts regardless of short-term political outcomes. Accountability is not optional.
I am watching closely to see who chooses to act.
