“It’s clear that Alina Habba does not meet the standard to serve the people of New Jersey.” Today I take pen in hand to write and urge you, in the strongest possible terms to reject the nomination of Alina Abba to the post of US Attorney for the District of New Jersey. Habba's defense of Trump's completely unsubstantiated election allegations undermines public trust in elections and democratic institutions. Her nomination poses a threat to the independence of the Department of Justice and its mission to pursue justice equitably for all Americans. She’s as un-serious as candidate as have any that have been put forward by the Trump Administration, and in many ways she’s worse. She will not be fair an impartial. She will attempt to use her position in all the ways we have seen from the Trump Department of Justice: Habba and other recently installed political appointees at DOJ are engaged in a shocking perversion of the founding mission of the Civil Rights Division — to enforce our federal civil rights laws in protection of the American people — and are presiding over a mass exodus of attorneys and managers and abandoning their existing civil rights docket by reflexively withdrawing from pending cases across issue areas regardless of their legal merit. She will do the same. Gloves off: Question and expose her lies and false character during the hearings, and Vote NO. Thank you.
