I am writing as a constituent to respectfully urge you to vote no on Ohio House Bill 188, which would create the “Ohio–Israel Trade and Innovation Partnership.”
At a time when Ohioans are facing significant and pressing challenges, I strongly believe our state resources must remain focused on addressing needs here at home. Ohio continues to struggle with underfunded public education, strained local infrastructure, workforce development gaps, housing insecurity, and public health concerns. These are issues that directly affect Ohio families and communities and require our full financial and legislative attention.
While international cooperation and innovation are important in a global economy, I do not believe Ohio taxpayers should be asked to subsidize partnerships with a foreign nation when critical investments within our own state remain unmet. Any available funding should be prioritized for programs that strengthen Ohio’s economy locally, support small businesses, improve wages and job training, and ensure that public dollars are delivering clear and measurable benefits to Ohio residents.
Fiscal responsibility means making difficult but necessary choices about where taxpayer money is allocated. In this case, I believe HB 188 moves Ohio in the wrong direction by diverting attention and resources away from urgent domestic needs.
I respectfully ask that you oppose HB 188 and instead advocate for policies that keep Ohio’s investments focused on Ohio’s people, communities, and long-term stability.
Thank you for your time and for your service to our district. I appreciate your consideration of my concerns.
