ugees., I have been to protests outside the CoreCivic detention facility in Otay.
The absolute minimum action we should be demanding in this country is the abolition of ICE and the closure of detention centers that are warehousing ref I was there when Kamala Harris was Senator and spoke to us and a crowd of journalists. It is still there. This is absolutely unacceptable., These are human being, families fleeing violence, climate disaster, political persecution, locked in facilities that operate like prisons. Children sleep ing under fluorescent lights. People denied adequate medical care. Asylum seekers treated like criminals for exercising a legal and human right to seek refuge. This is not “border security.” It is institutionalized cruelty dres sed up as policy., ICE has proven, time and again, that it is struc turally incapable of operating in a humane or accountable way. We cannot reform a system built on dehumanization. We must dismantle it., Closing detention centers is not radical. It is the bare minimum. We know there are alternatives. We choose not to use them., I am angry because this is a moral emergency. Silence is complicity. If we believe in human dignity, due process, and equal protection under the law, then we must demand more than cosmetic reforms. Anything less is being c omplicit in this attempted ethnic cleansing and fascist eugenics nightmare., Abolish ICE. Close the camps. Start treating people like people.
