America Stands with Ukraine. Not with Russia. Not EVER

The Wall Street Journal just reported that it was Elon Musk who ordered Space X to slow down its service in Ukraine. Basically rendering both their offensive and defensive drones useless. The report said it’s unclear if Musk operated rogue without input from WH officials. Some of their sources say he did. Others say he coordinated with multiple senior officials, including Trump. Pete Hegseth tried to dismiss the slowdown as a business decision: “We haven’t pulled anything back. There are terms of service that ultimately need to be complied to. And that’s where Starlink has the option to make those decisions, but nothing’s changed from our view. We haven’t made any directives or anything like that.” He added: “[W]e wish the Ukrainians, obviously, success.” Watch what they do. Not what they say. After a public uproar, the WSJ reports, representatives from SpaceX, parent company of Starlink, called the WH to coordinate messaging to say that Starlink and the administration had agreed to the slowdown ahead of time. With, or without, official WH input, Musk’s decision was able to change the course of a war with “a seeming flick of a switch.” A private citizen, with the power to do so (and funded by the US government) took it upon himself to reverse the foreign policy of the United States of America. For the benefit of Russia’s president Vladimir Putin. Why would this not be considered an act of treason along the lines of a Benedict Arnold? That is not a rhetorical question. Of course the other side of the coin is the eagerness of WH officials to turn Musk into a scapegoat for a decision they were happy to endorse until it blew up in their faces. That would seem to be the more likely scenario, based on what we continue to see come from the Trump administration. Or is it all just a series of unfortunate coincidences? Disruption of vital comms. Throttling the ability of Ukraine to defend itself. While at the same time Russia is accelerating attacks on infrastructure. And civilian targets. Slow-walking, or stopping entirely, deliveries of promised military weapons and missile interceptors. And a US president who continues to insist it’s all the fault of Ukraine. That it’s their fault the world is short of diesel. That it’s their fault they won’t just concede land to Russia. A US president that insists that Russia wants to stop the war as badly as Ukraine does. But that it’s all the fault of Ukraine’s president, who won’t make a deal, any deal, to stop the war. So while a supine Congress dithers, waiting to get straight answers about whether it’s Elon or Trump being derelict to an ally and playing footsie with an enemy, at the end of the day, because someone throttled Starlink, Ukrainians are dying. When will the GOP Congress accept the reality that Donald Trump is rooting for, and putting an American face on, a Russian victory? And that the US Congress are the only ones that can stop it. Do your jobs.
