Oppose Kevin Warsh's Nomination for Federal Reserve Chair

April 25

I'm urging you to oppose Kevin Warsh's nomination for Federal Reserve Chair. He has failed to disclose his personal financial holdings and flip flopped on his interest rate stance to align himself with Trump. He cannot be trusted to maintain the Fed's independence. Senator Elizabeth Warren has stated that Warsh's financial disclosures do not meet Senate ethics standards, despite his $100 million in holdings. His public reversal on interest rate policy after Trump's nomination raises serious questions about whether he will allow the White House to dictate monetary policy. This comes while the Department of Justice has an ongoing criminal investigation of current chairman Jerome Powell that a federal judge ruled is politically motivated to force rate cuts. During the 2008 financial crisis, Warsh prioritized bank bailouts over taxpayer relief and embraced risky subprime investment vehicles. He has also refused to say that Trump lost the 2020 election. The Federal Reserve's independence is essential to economic stability, and Warsh has shown he will compromise that independence to curry favor with Trump. Vote no on this nomination.
