Ban Congressional Stock Trading

To: Sen. Moreno, Rep. Turner, Sen. Husted

From: A constituent in Oakwood, OH

May 16

Support legislation that would ban stock trading by members of Congress and their immediate family members. Members of Congress have access to privileged information; members of both parties have used their time in Congress to enrich themselves through stock trading. The recent instances of members of Congress making money off the president's changing tariff policies is a good case in point, with Marjorie Taylor Greene as a prime example. According to House disclosure reports, she purchased between tens and hundreds of thousands of dollars around the timing of the tariff announcements and again around the news that Trump was pausing tariffs for 90 days. Best case it only appears to be a violation of ethics and a conflict of interest. Worst case, it actually is a case of political corruption. Either way, with the public approval rating of Congress hovering at about 29%; Congress should clean up its act.
