Publish the equal rights amendment

To: Gov. Hochul, Sen. Helming, Assembly Member Bailey

From: A constituent in Hemlock, NY

November 17

Publish the ERA in the Constitution! Gov. Hochul, Sen. Helming and Assembly Member Bailey , I am writing to urge you to take immediate action to publish and recognize the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) as the 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution now that the 38-state threshold was reached in January 2020 when Virginia became the 38th state to ratify. The Equal Rights Amendment states simply and clearly: “Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex.” For more than fifty years, women and men across the political spectrum have fought for this amendment because constitutional gender equality is not a partisan issue—it is a matter of fundamental fairness and American principle. Thankyou for your time.
