I am writing to express deep concern regarding recent developments involving former President Donald Trump that raise serious questions about potential market manipulation and insider trading.
There is growing speculation and reporting that Mr. Trump may have exploited privileged information or used his platform to influence markets for personal or political gain. Given the influence he continues to wield and his potential access to sensitive economic or policy information, I believe it is critical that Congress take steps to investigate any such misconduct.
If a private citizen or corporate executive were suspected of manipulating markets or trading on insider information, they would be subject to serious legal scrutiny. No one, including a former president, should be above the law.
I urge you to support or introduce legislation that ensures transparency and accountability in these matters. Specifically, we need stronger guardrails to prevent any individual — current or former public official — from profiting off of insider information or swaying financial markets for personal or political advantage.
The integrity of our markets and public trust in government depend on consistent enforcement of the law. I hope you will use your position to uphold these principles.
Thank you for your attention to this urgent issue. I look forward to your response and to learning what actions you intend to take.
