We must put a stop to the unacceptable situation where an unelected billionaire like Elon Musk has been granted access to highly sensitive Treasury payment data and systems. This represents a dangerous overreach, compromising the privacy and financial information of millions of Americans who rely on critical federal payments like Social Security, Medicare, tax refunds and more. Musk's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) is not an official government agency, yet it has been given the power to monitor and potentially block federal payments without any oversight or accountability. Allowing a private individual such unprecedented access to our most confidential data raises alarming concerns over potential abuses of power, from influencing elections to consolidating wealth and control. This breach undermines principles of good governance, democratic norms and citizen privacy. I urge you to take immediate action to revoke DOGE's access privileges and implement robust safeguards to prevent any single private entity from ever gaining such far-reaching powers over our public institutions and citizen data again. The security and integrity of our government payment infrastructure is paramount and cannot be entrusted to the whims of the ultra-wealthy. Prompt legislative remedies are essential to uphold public trust.
