Dr. Nicole Saphier, President Trump's latest nominee for Surgeon General, is the founder of the radical Make America Healthy Again movement and is vocally against transgender rights. The former Fox News contributor has hosted detransitioners on her podcast, attacked the inclusion of a transgender researcher in a youth health study, called being transgender a "fad" and a "trend" among youth, equated gender-affirming care with "promoting body dysmorphic disorder," and declared that transgender youth constitute a mental health "national emergency." Her opinions are not supported by the broader scientific community and are deeply harmful to the transgender community. Dr. Saphier's appointment to the role of surgeon general would be yet another blow to the already embattled rights of transgender Americans. I urge you to stand against her confirmation and protect the rights of vulnerable citizens.
