Reject Jay Clayton's DNI Nomination — Epstein Conflict of Interest

To: Pres. Trump, Sen. Curtis, Sen. Lee, Rep. Owens

From: A verified voter in West Jordan, UT

July 3

Vote no on Jay Clayton's nomination for Director of National Intelligence. Clayton's record of conflicts of interest disqualifies him from leading the nation's intelligence apparatus, and confirming him would be a betrayal of every survivor who has waited years for accountability in the Epstein case. The timeline here is damning. In June 2020, while SDNY prosecutors were circulating a draft indictment of Ghislaine Maxwell, AG Bill Barr moved to replace SDNY U.S. Attorney Geoffrey Berman with Clayton — on June 19, days after that draft circulated. Maxwell was indicted anyway, but the attempted interference stands. Then, after Biden's inauguration, Apollo Global Management hired Clayton as lead independent director and then non-executive chairman, a role he took on when Leon Black — whose ties to Epstein are extensive and documented — stepped aside. Trump then appointed Clayton as U.S. Attorney for SDNY, where he oversaw the final review and redaction of the DOJ Epstein files while holding millions in Apollo stock. That is not a coincidence. That is a conflict of interest so severe it should end this nomination. Rep. Ro Khanna has noted that survivors consistently name Leon Black first. Clayton sat at the center of the network protecting him. He should not be confirmed.
