First, turn on your afterhours voicemail. Listening to your constituents is part of your job and really the least you can do. Secondly, I’m terrified by videos I saw yesterday of ICE officers violently slamming a woman’s head into the floor in New York and, in a separate incident in Maryland, brutally pinning a man to the ground for nine full minutes while waving guns at bystanders. These officers are completely out of control; their conduct is unacceptable, dangerous, and beneath the standards of any US law enforcement agency. What are you doing to rein them in? No American is safe while ICE is this out of control. Thirdly, I’m horrified by Trump’s weaponization of the Justice Department. Their indictment of James Comey, simply because he’s someone Trump doesn't like, is unacceptable and terrifying. These are the actions of a dictatorship, not a free country. Justice in the United States is not supposed to look like this, but it’ll get much worse if Congress doesn’t step up. Please, put guardrails on Trump while Congress still has some power left!
