I am writing to express my strong opposition to H.Res. 7, a resolution that claims to recognize the importance of comprehensive, high-quality, life-affirming medical care for women. While I fully support efforts to expand access to ethical, high-quality healthcare, I am deeply concerned about the problematic language in this resolution—particularly the statement:
"Whereas health care for women should also address the needs of men, families, and communities as they relate to women’s health care."
This phrasing is concerning and misleading because it shifts the focus away from women’s healthcare needs and instead prioritizes how those needs affect others. Women’s healthcare should center on women themselves, not on how their health serves men, families, or communities. This language dilutes the importance of ensuring that women receive unbiased, patient-centered, and independent medical care that is not dictated by external interests.
By including this language, H.Res. 7 undermines its own stated intent. Rather than reinforcing women’s access to healthcare, it subtly suggests that their care should be framed in relation to others, which could contribute to policies that limit or complicate essential services for women.
I urge you to oppose H.Res. 7 and instead advocate for legislation that genuinely prioritizes women’s health without unnecessary caveats or conditions. Women deserve medical care that is comprehensive, evidence-based, and free from political or ideological framing that diminishes their autonomy.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I would appreciate hearing your stance on this resolution and how you plan to support women-focused healthcare in a way that truly puts women first.
