I am urging the Governor to activate the state National Guard for a limited deployment with the specific mission to protect the civilian population against an out-of-control federal force, currently acting in lawless, terrorizing ways. My children are afraid to go to school. My neighbors are afraid to leave their homes. I am seeing abandoned cars with busted windows haphazardly left in major roadways by ICE goon squads. Citizens are being abducted, abused and threatened with violence, yet it is ONLY everyday citizens showing any resistance against these criminal, inhumane acts of cowardice. I don't know if the federal deployment numbers are accurate, but we have a clear sense as a people that there are no police coming to our aid, whether that is due to them being outnumbered, or more likely as the Fraternal Order of Police statement indicates, an agreement to not interfere with federal agents. In either case, civilians are left wondering what options we have. We bang pots and pans, blow whistles, keep the group chats updated. And we watch as our legislators do nothing. You have no campaigning left, I urge you to activate the National Guard and make a series of public addresses to alert the population as to their purpose and mission. They must be fully empowered to resist federal overreach and protect us. It is a dire moment we all find ourselves in, but the escalations are entirely due to the federal government's white supremacist agenda. We cannot be left to fend for ourselves against this onslaught. Please act.
