I am writing to you today as your constituent to urge you to actively oppose and vote to strike Sections 1217 and 219 from the Fiscal Year 2027 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).Section 219 (House version) and its companion Section 1217 (Senate version) direct the Department of Defense to establish the "United States-Israel Defense Technology Cooperation Initiative". While presented as defense cooperation, these provisions effectively integrate the U.S. and Israeli military sectors at an unprecedented scale, directing the appointment of an executive agent to embed Israeli technology directly into sensitive U.S. weapons systems.I strongly oppose this inclusion for the following reasons:Compromise of Sovereignty and Oversight: The initiative would permanently integrate foreign technology—including artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and cyber warfare—into our most critical defense supply chains without routine congressional appropriations or adequate oversight.Perpetuation of Conflict Complicity: Bypassing standard oversight and permanently linking U.S. technology feeds into Israeli military systems deeply entangles our nation in their ongoing operations, creating serious risks of complicity in civilian harm.Lack of Debate: Previous bipartisan attempts to strike these sections from the bill were blocked from receiving a fair debate and a recorded floor vote. As my elected official, you must ensure that massive, sweeping changes to our military technology relationships receive transparent, standalone deliberation. As a constituent, I expect you to prioritize American constitutional accountability and our national sovereignty over expanded military entanglements. Please commit to opposing the NDAA if these sections are not stripped out.I look forward to hearing your position on this critical issue and learning how you intend to vote on the inclusion of Sections 1217 and 219.
