An Open Letter

To: Sen. Lee, Sen. Curtis, Rep. Kennedy

From: A constituent in Holladay, UT

July 2

In an effort to restore independence to the nation’s highest court, I call on you as my elected official to support legislation which would establish term limits for Supreme Court justices and a regularized appointments process. A new justice would be nominated every two years and spend 18 years in active service, while preserving constitutional protections for judicial independence in decision-making. It's time to bring balance and accountability back to the courts, and make bribery, executive coercion, and corruption less likely among the justices. Lifetime appointments are absurd in a society such as ours, and it's time we make a change.
