I am deeply concerned about reports that America PAC, linked to Elon Musk, is offering $100 payments to Wisconsin voters to sign a petition against judges he opposes—while Tesla is actively fighting a legal battle in the state. This is a blatant attempt to manipulate the judiciary for corporate interests and undermines public trust in our courts.
While direct payments for votes are illegal, paying people to participate in petition efforts like this is an alarming loophole that must be closed. Billionaires should not be able to buy political outcomes, whether it’s by funding candidates or financially influencing judicial removals.
I urge you to support legislation that:
1. Bans direct financial incentives for petition signatures, ensuring money cannot be used to sway participation in judicial removals or ballot initiatives.
2. Strengthens judicial independence protections, so courts are not subject to intimidation or financial coercion.
3. Closes loopholes that allow billionaires to wield outsized influence over our political and legal systems.
This is a serious issue, and I would love to hear your thoughts directly. Indivisible Central Ohio is hosting a Congressional Town Hall tomorrow at 2 PM, and we would welcome your participation. Rep. Lett is attending, and we would love to see you there as well.
Can we count on you to stand up for fair courts and election integrity? I look forward to your response.
