Stop Playing GAMES, Open the Government

To: Sen. Hawley, Sen. Schmitt

From: A verified voter in Kansas City, MO

October 12, 2025

Why is it acceptable for Speaker Johnson to shut down Congress for another week — with full pay — while federal employees are forced to work without pay? You know this is wrong. The people you represent are the ones being punished while politicians collect their checks and play political games. We voted for you to represent us, not Donald Trump, not party leaders, and certainly not foreign donors. Yet, time and again, Congress seems more interested in sending billions to foreign countries like Israel and Argentina than in helping Americans afford healthcare or keep their government functioning. If you truly represent your constituents, then prove it — open the government, pass a responsible budget, and put the needs of the American people first. And if you’re not willing to do that, at least be honest about who you’re really working for so we know how to vote next time. We’re not even asking you to do that much, approve healthcare subsidies so we all don’t go bankrupt, we already cant afford food and gas. It’s the LEAST you can do!
