Fund our public schools

To: Gov. DeSantis, Rep. Spencer, Sen. Truenow

From: A verified voter in Winter Garden, FL

April 13

I am writing as a concerned parent and constituent to urge you to oppose any proposed budget cuts that would negatively impact advanced academic programs in our high schools—specifically AP (Advanced Placement), IB (International Baccalaureate), AICE (Advanced International Certificate of Education), Dual Enrollment, and CAPE (Career and Professional Education) courses. These programs play a critical role in preparing our students for college and careers, challenging them academically, and helping them save on future tuition costs. They are especially important for students who may not otherwise have access to rigorous coursework or opportunities to earn college credit during high school. Limiting or eliminating access to these programs would be a serious disservice to our students, particularly those who are highly motivated and seeking a more advanced academic path. It would also create greater inequality across school districts, widening the opportunity gap between communities. As a parent, I want my children—and all students—to have every opportunity to succeed and excel. I respectfully ask that you advocate for continued and increased funding for these essential programs so that our schools can provide the high-quality education our kids deserve. Thank you for your consideration.
