Initiate Impeachment Proceedings to Defend the Constitution Immediately

To: Sen. Cornyn, Sen. Cruz, Rep. Johnson

From: A constituent in Richardson, TX

April 25

I am writing to urge you to advocate for the immediate initiation of impeachment proceedings against President Donald J. Trump, who is currently serving his second term and is repeatedly and flagrantly violating the United States Constitution — conduct that clearly constitutes high crimes and misdemeanors under Article II, Section 4. Specifically, President Trump has: • Issued executive orders attempting to strip birthright citizenship from children born in the United States, directly defying the Fourteenth Amendment and settled Supreme Court precedent; • Invoked authorities like the Alien Enemies Act to justify detentions and deportations without due process, targeting individuals from countries with which the United States is not at war, in violation of the Fifth Amendment’s guarantee of due process for all persons within U.S. jurisdiction; • Undermined constitutional principles through repeated and open actions that signal contempt for constitutional limits on executive power. Further alarming is President Trump’s active promotion of merchandise on his official campaign and organizational websites advocating for a third term — despite the Twenty-Second Amendment’s clear prohibition against serving more than two terms as President. This reckless behavior is not merely a joke; it is a deliberate effort to desensitize his supporters to the idea of ignoring constitutional term limits and subverting democratic governance. The Founders anticipated that a President who abuses power, disregards the law, and incites contempt for constitutional order would threaten the survival of the republic. Impeachment was designed precisely as the remedy for such a crisis. I respectfully but urgently ask you to stand in defense of the Constitution, of the rule of law, and of the future of American democracy by supporting the commencement of impeachment proceedings against President Trump. No President is above the Constitution. Thank you for your service and your commitment to protecting the constitutional foundations of our nation.
