Hundreds of hospitals across the country are at risk of significantly reducing services or shutting down entirely due to proposed cuts to Medicaid under the reconciliation bill. Analysis found 338 rural hospitals could face closure because they serve a large number of Medicaid patients and have experienced consecutive years of financial losses. Passing this legislation would exacerbate the crisis in healthcare access leaving many communities without access to critical medical services. The 16 million Americans will no longer have access to preventative services due to loss of healthcare coverage and many will seek care in emergency rooms, overburdening the most expensive part of our healthcare system.
Allowing this reconciliation bill to move forward, puts the healthcare needs of millions of Americans at risk and could force difficult decisions for struggling providers. Protecting patient access to care should be the top priority! Reject these harmful Medicaid cuts to prevent a healthcare crisis for communities nationwide.
