Heed calls for arms embargo on Israel over Gaza crisis

The American public has spoken clearly through repeated polling - a majority want an end to the flow of weapons from the U.S. to Israel during its ongoing brutal assault on the Gaza violence. Sending more arms enables further violence and humanitarian crisis, directly contradicting principles of human rights. This war has raged for nearly a year, killing over more than 40,000 people by modest estimates, many of them civilians sheltering in areas like Rafah. U.S. laws like the Leahy Law prohibit military aid to forces violating human rights, and the Foreign Assistance Act bars aid when humanitarian relief is blocked, as Israel has done in Gaza. With strong opposition across party lines, and credible evidence of violations, there is a moral and legal imperative to implement an immediate arms embargo on Israel. I urge you to listen to the will of the American people and take decisive action to stop arming this unconscionable violence against the Palestinians.
