Demand Accountability and New Senate Leadership
To: Sen. Murray, Sen. Cantwell
From: A verified voter in Tacoma, WA
November 6
The 2026 election sent a clear message: Americans want accountability, transparency, and meaningful change. We did not vote for revenge. We voted for accountability. That accountability must extend beyond the Trump administration. The Senate must investigate government misconduct, regardless of party, including: -DOGE access to sensitive federal data and whether that access was lawful. -Conflicts of interest involving Trump family businesses, cryptocurrency, and foreign investments. -Full transparency and accountability regarding the Epstein files, while protecting survivors. -Deaths and alleged abuses involving ICE and federal law enforcement. -Unauthorized military actions and violations of Congress's constitutional war powers. -Insider trading, government ethics violations, and the misuse of public office. I am also concerned about the direction of Democratic leadership. Chuck Schumer should not automatically reclaim the position of Senate Majority Leader through private commitments or backroom arrangements. The position should be decided through an open, competitive, and transparent process. I encourage you to consider Senator Bernie Sanders (VT) and Senator Chris Murphy (CT) as alternatives. Sanders signed the Reject AIPAC pledge, demonstrating his opposition to AIPAC's political influence. Murphy has publicly stated that he does not accept AIPAC money. I believe both deserve serious consideration for leadership. I want a Majority Leader who demonstrates independence from powerful donors and lobbying organizations, prioritizes working Americans, supports meaningful healthcare and economic reform, and is willing to challenge the status quo. I ask you to: Oppose Schumer's automatic return to leadership. Consider Sanders and Murphy as alternative candidates. Support a transparent leadership election and publicly explain your choice. Pursue meaningful investigations and congressional oversight. Support campaign finance reform and protect Congress's constitutional responsibilities. The Democratic Party cannot credibly promise accountability while avoiding scrutiny of its own leadership and political relationships. No president, billionaire, political donor, foreign government, or member of Congress should be above the law. I would appreciate a substantive written response explaining your position. Your actions and votes will matter when I evaluate your representation in future elections.
