I am writing to urge you to immediately support articles of impeachment against Kristi Noem, the 8th Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security. Her tenure has been marked by gross incompetence, systematic human rights violations, and actions that threaten the safety and constitutional rights of everyone living in the United States. Under Secretary Noem's leadership, ICE has conducted raids that have terrorized communities, separated families, and resulted in multiple deaths. DHS has targeted and detained verified US citizens, with some being deported without due process in clear violation of their constitutional rights. This is not a matter of immigration enforcement but of fundamental violations of American citizenship protections. The conditions facing ICE detainees have deteriorated to unconscionable levels. Detained individuals are experiencing sexual assault, medical negligence, and other human rights abuses. Thousands of detained people have gone missing from the system with no accountability or tracking. These are not isolated incidents but patterns of systemic failure under her watch. Secretary Noem has also directed the use of US military forces against protestors exercising their First Amendment rights. Most egregiously, she celebrated the murder of Renee Good by an ICE agent as self defense, despite reported video evidence demonstrating Good's innocence. This celebration of extrajudicial killing by a Cabinet secretary represents a fundamental betrayal of the rule of law. Secretary Noem has demonstrated she is unqualified for this position and lacks understanding of basic legal principles that should govern DHS operations. Her actions constitute grounds for impeachment under the Constitution's provisions for high crimes and misdemeanors. I urge you to cosponsor and vote for articles of impeachment against Secretary Noem. The safety of your constituents and the integrity of our constitutional system demand immediate action to remove her from office.
