Self Determination for Greenland

To: Rep. Begich, Sen. Murkowski, Sen. Sullivan

From: A constituent in Anchorage, AK

January 17

Hello, I am writing on behalf of the people of Greenland, people close friends of mine know personally due to their work there. It goes without saying that the idea of the US just blanket "taking over" Greenland that the president is pushing is patently absurd. Democrat or Republican, the idea is absurd. Do you believe in self determination, an idea that the Founding Fathers believed in? Do you believe in the idea of America, one where people can decide for themselves how they want to be governed? Forget what party you are in for a moment, and think like a regular person for a few minutes. The people of Greenland do want to be part of the US. They do not want more US imperialism, and the people of Greenland, Denmark, Europe, and over half of Americans stand by their desire for self governance. It's pretty open and shut in all honesty. Do they want to be part of the US? Nope? Ok! Case closed. It's really as simple as that. Just because the President wants Greenland doesn't make the ideas any less absurd. Remember our fellow friends in the Arctic. We have much in common with them as Alaskans, and I hope that you come to your senses and realize how absurd this idea is, irrespective of the party politics behind it.
