Oppose Anti-LGBTQI+ and Anti-DEI Bill, Uphold Equality

To: Rep. Lee Carter

From: A constituent in Houston, TX

November 21

The House Republicans' proposed "Dismantle DEI Act" represents a disturbing effort to roll back critical protections and inclusive initiatives for LGBTQI+ individuals and other marginalized communities. This discriminatory bill seeks to revoke executive orders that prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity, undermine U.S. leadership on LGBTQI+ human rights abroad, and dismantle diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs across federal agencies. Such regressive actions would create hostile work environments, erode equal opportunity safeguards, and signal a concerning departure from our nation's commitment to protecting the rights and dignity of all citizens. We must reject attempts to marginalize and exclude LGBTQI+ individuals and instead work to foster truly inclusive environments that embrace diversity. I urge you to oppose this harmful legislation and uphold policies that promote equality, non-discrimination, and respect for all individuals, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. Our government should lead by example in advancing human rights and creating a more just society for all.
