Don't Give DHS More Power to Spy on Us Congress is about to give the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and ICE more power to surveil our communities and track our movements. The Combating Organized Retail Crime Act (CORCA) is being introduced under the guise of "fighting shoplifting." In reality, however, it quietly hands the federal government broad authority to install new tech that helps them collect and share personal data of anyone who happens to be shopping in a strip mall or picking up groceries for their family. This is a massive expansion of the surveillance state and will only feed into the Trump administration's cruel deportation campaign.
