The U.S. Department of Education must immediately allocate the fiscal year 2025 education appropriations as required by law. Over 5 million English learners, their educators, schools, families, and communities rely on the $890 million in Title III ESSA funding, which supports English language instruction programs. Additionally, the $85 million for Integrated English Language and Civics Education (IELCE) under Title II of WIOA aids adult English learners seeking employment. Failing to allocate these funds on time harms states' ability to effectively serve English learner populations when their fiscal years begin on July 1st. Other crucial programs like Migrant Education ($375.6 million), Supporting Effective Instruction ($2.19 billion), and 21st Century Community Learning Centers ($1.33 billion) also remain unfunded. Delaying this process is unacceptable. Immediate action must be taken to distribute these vital resources to support English learners and comply with legal requirements.
