It is no easy task to watch the world's inaction while people suffer and die, let alone when we are directly contributing to that suffering. It's heartbreaking and frustrates the core of humanity within us all. We need to address the crimes against humanity happening right before our eyes, right now. Specifically, the issue involves U.S. funding of Israel's actions against Palestinian civilians. It is unacceptable that our funds are used to fuel violence, where innocent lives are lost, homes razed, and spirits broken.
We cannot distance ourselves from this and pretend we are innocent bystanders. With our taxes and votes, we become complicit—partners in these crimes. The option to rethink our foreign policy, re-evaluate our alliances, and reconsider our moral stance is not just a feel-good sentiment, but an urgent necessity. We can no longer afford to be silent, idle, or act as mere spectators while the world goes ablaze. Our moral compass must be recalibrated towards universal justice, peace, and and civil liberties.
We urgently demand an immediate ceasefire in the conflict and a reconsideration of the U.S.' financial and military support to Israel. We should prioritize diplomacy and negotiations, instead of sending arms that serve to continue the cycle of violence and hostility. We have a moral obligation—as individuals, as a nation, and as a member of the global community—to stand against crimes against humanity and to ensure that our actions, our policies, our money are deployed towards peace, towards justice, towards an equitable and humane world. On the pedestal of the world, let us lead by example.
