I understand that Senate Republicans have put forth a budget resolution asking for 70B more for ICE and CBP. This is horrifying. These agencies are already wildly overfunded; meanwhile working Americans are dying—literally. We can’t afford our healthcare, utility bills, or groceries. But Congress wants to give more money to lawless and unpopular agencies? I oppose this with my entire being. Especially with no guardrails on ICE’s behavior. Vote no.
Second, please ask the Senator to oppose a clean reauthorization of Section 702 of FISA. Section 702’s numerous loopholes allow for unwarranted government surveillance and can be easily manipulated at the expense of Americans’ civil liberties. I ask the Senator to only support an extension with warrant requirements and the data broker loophole closed.
Finally, Congress needs to pass a War Powers Resolution now. End this illegal war! Thanks.
