Demand for Congressional Investigation into President Trump’s Ties to Russia
To: Sen. Merkley, Sen. Wyden, Rep. Bentz
From: A verified voter in Myrtle Creek, OR
April 14
I am writing to you as a deeply concerned constituent regarding recent and alarming remarks made by President Donald Trump, in which he publicly blamed President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and President Joe Biden for the ongoing war in Ukraine. These statements dangerously echo Russian propaganda and mark a profound betrayal of our longstanding alliances and democratic values.
It is becoming increasingly clear that President Trump is turning his back on our ally Ukraine and, by extension, our European partners who have stood by us since the Second World War. By shifting blame onto the victims of an unprovoked invasion and aligning himself rhetorically with the Kremlin’s interests, the President is providing aid and comfort to an enemy of the United States. These actions raise serious concerns about loyalty, intent, and national security.
This is not just political posturing—it is behavior that borders on treason. The President of the United States should never be allowed to embolden authoritarian regimes or undercut democratic allies in a time of war. These statements, combined with his previous undermining of NATO and pattern of favorable treatment toward Russia, demand immediate investigation.
I urge you and your colleagues in Congress to launch a formal investigation into President Trump’s ties to Russian intelligence and interests. We must determine whether the sitting President is compromised by foreign adversaries, and we must act swiftly to protect the security and integrity of our nation.
The American people deserve the truth. I ask you to do your duty to uphold the Constitution and hold those in power accountable—no matter how high the office they hold.
