Redistricting
To: Rep. Gooden
From: A verified voter in Heartland, TX
July 26
I am writing as a concerned Texan to urge you to vote against any redistricting plan that fails to protect the integrity of our democratic process. If redistricting must occur, I implore you to ensure that it is done fairly, transparently, and without partisan gerrymandering.
The drawing of district lines should reflect the true will of the people—not serve to entrench political power. When politicians manipulate boundaries to favor certain parties or suppress specific communities, they silence voices and distort representation. This undermines public trust in government and weakens our democracy.
As a constituent, I believe that the people should choose their representatives—not the other way around. I respectfully request that you support a fair redistricting process that:
• Uses nonpartisan or independent input wherever possible
• Preserves communities of interest
• Reflects Texas’s diverse population accurately
• Promotes competitive districts rather than safe seats
• Ensures compliance with the Voting Rights Act
Texas is strongest when every voice matters and every vote counts equally. I urge you to stand with the people of Texas by opposing gerrymandered maps and advocating for fair, just, and equitable representation for all.
Thank you for your time and service to our state. I hope you will act with integrity on this critical issue.
