Urgent Legal Action Needed to Counter Trump’s Mass Deportation Agenda

To: Asm. Bonta, Sen. Arreguín, Gov. Newsom

From: A constituent in Oakland, CA

June 16

I’m writing as a concerned constituent to urge your office to take immediate legal action against the violent, unlawful mass deportation operation proposed by Donald Trump. His recent public statement outlines an unconstitutional and racially motivated agenda targeting immigrant communities, particularly in Sanctuary Cities like [California/New York]. This isn’t just political rhetoric — it’s a blueprint for mass racial profiling, due process violations, and civil rights abuse under federal authority. Trump’s language and directives threaten to weaponize ICE and other agencies against millions of families in our communities. As someone deeply committed to justice and the rule of law, I am asking you to: • Launch or lead a multi-state legal challenge preemptively blocking federal overreach • Investigate ICE’s conduct and federal coordination efforts in our state • Use your influence to protect Sanctuary Cities and vulnerable populations • Publicly denounce this agenda as authoritarian, xenophobic, and unconstitutional California/New York must not only resist — we must lead. Thank you for your tireless work defending civil liberties. I stand with your office in protecting the rights and dignity of all people, regardless of immigration status.
