Demand Action on Trump's Stock Trading Conflicts of Interest

To: Rep. Chu, Sen. Schiff, Sen. Padilla

September 17

Pass a stock trading ban that covers the president, not just Congress. Trump made nearly 28,700 stock trades between January 2025 and June 2026 — roughly 80 trades per market day — more than all 535 members of Congress combined. His trades have been worth as much as $2.55 billion, and he's made up to $15.5 million on oil and gas stocks that rose directly because of his war on Iran. That's not a portfolio. That's a president trading on the policies he controls. The hypocrisy here is glaring. Trump called on Congress to pass the STOP Insider Trading Act so members "cannot corruptly profit from using insider information" — while simultaneously attacking Sen. Josh Hawley for trying to include the president in that same ban. He bought up to $1.4 million in DoorDash stock, then staged a White House DoorDash delivery stunt two months later. Any honest reading of these facts points to the same conclusion: the ban must apply to the executive branch too. Vote for legislation that closes this loophole.
