Ms. Van Duyne, as a woman in America, you have surely seen how the patriarchy has resisted hearing your voice. Even now, as the victims of Epstein and Maxwell are crying out to be heard, jet fighters fly overhead to drown out their voices and accusations of “hoax” are being leveled against them to, once again, silence them. Not this time. I am writing to ask you to join with women everywhere, and the men who were brought up to respect women as equals, to protect the dignity, the autonomy, and the bravery of these women who may finally get to have their voices heard. You hold this ability in your hands. You have the power to defeat the patriarchy that continues to dismiss women everywhere. Will you vote to support passage of HR 581, the Epstein Files Transparency Act, to release the full accounting of this grotesque assault perpetrated on these women? These were little girls when they were lured to that place and subjected to these violations. They were not “asking for it” or “dressing inappropriately”; they were children being lured and groomed by powerful men and a woman - the pardon of whom needs to be Legislatively addressed, but that’s another conversation. Speak up for women. Don’t be like these men and continue the harm they’ve caused. It’s time to heal and time to hold the responsible accountable, no matter who is on the list. This isn’t partisan, this is justice for victims. Support HR 581. Do the right thing. For all our daughters.
