Every day, we are inundated with horrific images and stories of violence and bloodshed in the Israel-Palestine conflict, the severity of which has become far worse over time. We must no longer turn a blind eye to the terrifying reality that this is a war funded by our tax dollars. Our money is being invested in the weapons and mechanisms that bring about untold suffering and reverberating effects of trauma to innocent civilians, in particular, Palestinians. Every bullet fired, every home destroyed, and every life taken is a testament to our culpability in this violence. This is not in our name; it's high time we demanded accountability and a definite halt to these actions. The ethical paradox is why, as a nation that prides itself on peacekeeping and humanitarian missions, we are facilitating such atrocities. As the primary benefactor of Israel, we are inadvertently funding the ongoing violation of human rights and international law. If we genuinely want to champion global peace, we must first hold ourselves accountable. The completion of this task requires nothing less than the immediate cessation of the provision of arms and financial support to Israel until they commit to and follow through on a complete ceasefire and engage in meaningful dialogue regarding the status of Palestine. It's high time we call out this dreadful reality and advocate for those who cannot raise their voices. Ignorance is not an excuse for inaction, especially when lives hang in the balance. We can begin by demanding our elected representatives to prioritize humanity over political expedience, to use their influential standing to push for the immediate and enduring halt of the funds channeling to Israel's military actions against Palestinian civilians. Let us bear in mind, it is not just about ceasing the blind support but actively working towards a diplomatic solution to this long-standing conflict, inclusive of the rights, freedom, and safety of Palestinians.
